You Have What It Takes

I would like to share my favorite poem! Unfortunately I don't know the author.

YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES

Figure it out for yourself, my lad
You have all that the greatest of men have had:
Two arms, two hands, two legs, two eyes,
And a brain to use- if you would be wise.
With this equipment they all began,
So start from the top and say "I can"!

Look them over, the wise and great,
They take their food from a common plate.
Similar knives and forks they use,
And with similar laces they tie their shoes.
The world considers them brave and smart,
But you have all they had when they got their start.

You can triumph and come to skill
You can be great if you only will!
You're well equipped for the fight you choose-
You have arms and legs and a brain to use
And the man who has arisen, great deeds to do,
Began his life with no more than you.

But you are the handicap you must face.
You are the one who must choose your place.
You must say where you want to go,
How much you will study the truth you know.
GOD has equipped you for life, you see,
But He lets you decide what you want to be.

Courage comes from the soul within
The man must furnish the will to win
So figure it out for yourself, my lad;
You were born with all that the greats have had
With your eqippment they all began,
So get a hold of yourself and say, "I can"!

Vacation Pics Part 2

Better late than never right? :-)

This is Thomas Jefferson's home... Monticello. We got to tour it in Charlottesville, Virginia.

I know this picture is a little blurry, but they were selling this in the gift shop. I thought it was awesome.

This is one of Thomas Jefferson's famous quotes. I agree!

Okay so be checking back for part 3!

Too Funny!

How I learned to mind my own business: One day I was walking past a mental hospital and heard all the patients yelling "13.....13....13....13". The fence was too high to see over. So I put my eye to a hole in the fence to see what was going on. I was promptly poked in the eye with a stick.......and they all started yelling "14....14.....14...14!".  Hehehehe

Shopping Trip

Every year at our church, the ladies have a ladies shopping day. We all load up in the church van and drive to a big city to shop. This year we drove the hour and a half to Baton Rouge. We had a blast :). In Stein Mart, however, we got a bit carried away with the large selection of flowers! Haha so I thought I'd post this pic of Shelby, Melody, Brooke, and moi "modeling" some flowers LOL.

P.S To Shelby, Melody, and Brooke: please don't kill me for this! Jk

Awww how cute!

Guess what today is? National Napping day! I actually didn't even know that this was a holiday until tonight at choir practice when a lady in our church told me, but I DEFINITELY like the idea of a napping holiday ;). Hope you caught a few ZzZzZzZzZzZzZz's today! :D

I passed!

I passed the test and got my learner's permit to drive today! Yay me! I'm so excited! I was so worried that I would fail, there were two or three other teenagers who failed right before me, so I got the mistaken impression that the test would be really hard. It was actually pretty easy!

Ugh...Tonsillectomies are NO fun!

Well Today I had a tonsillectomy. My throat hurts like crazy!I couldn't eat or drink after midnight till after the surgery. First of all I had to get up early and go to the Riverpark Surgery Center. They called me back to a room that looked kind of like a hospital room with a big curtain. Then I had to change to a huge hospital gown. They stuck me with this really, really, really SCARY needle, and then they put the IV in. Whatever kind of medicine was in the IV made kind of loopy, or made me hallucinate or something, I just started laughing my head off for no reason, the nurse said it made me drunk.Oh, and they gave me three pills. They rolled me then to the surgery room, and they put this mask thingy on my nose and mouth and told me to breath deep. I must of fallen asleep from the anesthesia then because thats the last thing I remember. When I woke up my throat was hurting and the nurse brought me some water and then a popsicle :). Then we went to Mcdonalds to get a chocolate shake, and then to Walgreens to get my prescription medicine. I was still soooo tired, I came home and slept for two hours. I have to stay cooped up inside for a week. That's a bummer. One good thing, I get to eat lots of ice cream and chocolate milk and shakes! =)

December: In Review

I have had a BUSY (and fun) December!

Our youth group went to see a play in Baton Rouge. It was a lot of fun! Sorry the pic is so fuzzy but I don't have a clear one.

One of the things I did is fill a HUGE stocking for my bus kiddies, it was full of candy toys and all kinds of cool stuff; the Sunday before Christmas we drew a name and one of them won it.

As you can see from the picture below, I had so much fun buying stuff for it! I just couldn't resist trying on these giant sunglasses =)

We also went to Disney on Ice one day!

We were on a trip and on the way home in the plane, they gave us plane crackers! Yes, seriously. Animal crackers are great but I've never heard of plane crackers! It was funny :)

A couple of days ago I went to Baton Rouge to go shopping with some ladies in the church, and while we were there I bought the Barnes & Noble e-reader, the Nook. I really like it!

The night before Christmas Eve we went to my Grandmother's house a couple of hours away. Late Christmas Eve we drove back here. We had a good quiet Christmas, just me and my mom and dad. We were a bit un-traditional this year, we had homeade pizza!

I know this is a totally random post, but I just thought I'd share some of the things I've been doing.
